Anyone with a slight connection to Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho or Tottenham is being hounded today by the world media, and being asked for their comments on what has happened over the past 24 hours.
In Italy, the Mourinho connection is Inter Milan, a club the manager had a hugely successful period with, winning the treble in 2010.
At that time, Massimo Moratti was the club’s largest shareholder and chairman.
TMW have contacted him to ask his opinion on the Spurs appointment, Moratti sounds genuinely pleased for both club and manager: “I’m very happy for him. And I’m also happy for Tottenham, the club made a good choice even though Pochettino was a great coach. Mourinho has everything to do very, very well in London.”
There’s long been an assumption in Italy that Mourinho will one day return to Inter Milan, with him still having many fans around the club. Despite the chance of a reunion presenting itself on more than occasion, it hasn’t ever seemed to be close.
TMW asked Moratti if it’s something he dreams of for the Serie A club: “It is the dream of all Inter fans, it is quite normal. We are bound to his victories, it is inevitable to hope to see him again sooner or later at the head of Inter.”
