Matteo Darmian is forever in the Italian rumour mill and that’s been the case for years. Almost since arriving at Manchester United there have been Italian reports of the player returning to Serie A.
At first those reports were prompted by Darmian playing well, it was a blow for the Italian media that Manchester United had been the club to get him from Torino.
A good start in the Premier League fuelled the feeling he should really be back in Italy, playing for someone like Juventus.
Now it’s very different, Darmian’s initial good form seems an awful long time ago, and Jose Mourinho clearly isn’t counting too much on the fullback. Half of Serie A have been linked with a swoop for the player, but for Calciomercato it remains Juventus as the likeliest destination.
The Italian website claims Juventus have been in contact with Darmian’s agents ‘for months’ but they’ve now been given the ‘go-ahead’ from the player, who has decided a Manchester United transfer could be for the best.
Juventus want Darmian, Darmian wants Juventus, Manchester United probably just want a reasonable price.
