A few days after David Wagner left Huddersfield Town, he was followed out of the Premier League club by Olaf Rebbe.
Rebbe had moved to Huddersfield the previous May, after Wolfsburg told him his services were no longer required. Wagner had been a big backer of the director of sport, and without the German manager it seemed likely a whole new way forward would be found for the Terriers.
With Premier League survival looking increasingly unlikely, the changes weren’t only related to this season but also future campaigns and the possibility of the club having to work on a Championship budget soon.
Rebbe may not be out of work for long, report Süddeutsche Zeitung.
The 40 year old is one of two named candidates to take over at FC Nürnberg.
Currently bottom of the Bundesliga, they have a better chance of survival than Huddersfield, but it’s not looking good.
Boris Schommers is currently assistant manager there.
Could this see Wagner also end up at the German club? There’s no mention and it would be assumed he’d be looking for a top flight job should he return to his home country.
