AC Milan and Newcastle United are both chasing Sven Botman and the Lille centre-back has already revealed their interest in securing his services this summer.
The Magpies seem to have taken the lead in the chase for the 22-year-old if reports are to be believed.
Milan News state the Serie A winner’s efforts to sign the defender are on standby and the ‘blame is to be attributed’ to the Tyneside club.
Botman has been in contact with the Rossoneri since the winter market and has found an agreement with them for a five-year contract.
However, the situation is changing because of Newcastle’s insistence and their willingness to pay more than €30m. This could see the Dutchman give up on Stefano Pioli’s side.
Calciomercato.it also explain Milan are moving away from the Dutchman because of Eddie Howe’s side, who are raising the stakes and pushing hard to land him. They are ready to cross the €40m barrier.
The Serie A winners made an offer to Lille, but it seems like they are unable to compete financially with Newcastle. In order to convince Botman, the English club could offer him a ‘rich contract’.
The website adds: ‘The Dutchman has literally bewitched the president of the Magpies and is proving it to the sound of millions on the table. The feeling is that the money coming from the Premier League, in the end, could make a difference’.’
