German magazine Kicker sound almost annoyed that Hull City are trying to sign Leon Bailey.
Bayer Leverkusen had thought they were in the driving seat and interest from Hull is obviously not ideal, especially with Marcos Silva confirming he wants the player.
The German media initially ruled out English interest, saying Bailey couldn’t move to Hull or anywhere else in the Premier League, because he wasn’t a current international and therefore wouldn’t get a work permit.
At the time, we explained why that stance was nonsense, and Kicker have now accepted it too… so it’s time for them to take swipes at Hull instead.
Hull is a club ‘permanently without European football’, Kicker point out, and they’re fighting against relegation, so ‘money is Hull’s only asset’.
The Premier League could also be a pull for Bailey, but Kicker don’t mention that. If the 19 year old excelled then he’d sure enough find himself the subject of interest from bigger English clubs, something which won’t have escaped his advisors.
Hull City have got the German media panicking, UK City of Culture or a German city built for the purpose of chemical factories?
