On Monday, we carried claims from Spain regarding Aston Villa’s initial offer for Loïc Badé.

Diego Costa heading off for new horizons in the Turkish Super Lig meant the Premier League club were able to move more concretely for the Sevilla player.

However, in the days between interest becoming known and that initial offer arriving, it would appear Victor Orta became a little too ambitious regarding Sevilla’s asking price.

Aston Villa were said to have put forward €21m plus a potential further €4m in bonus payments. Sevilla were presented as wanting €30m.

As ever, a fair deal looks somewhere in the middle.

Tuesday’s edition of ABC Sevilla reports the defender’s transfer has ‘begun to take shape’, and it’s all being pushed by Monchi.

As an interesting aside, there was an article in Spain yesterday brining together comments from Sevilla fans who believe Monchi is being stingy to his former club and should be kinder in negotiations. What’s Spanish for LOL?

Anyway, back to ABC Sevilla, they say their local club want at least €25m as a guaranteed fee, so before any potential bonuses.

The same newspaper states Sevilla’s priority to replace Badé is Le Havre’s Arouna Sangante.

Monchi obviously knows what he’s doing here, so perhaps something like €24m plus a few €m in bonuses could work.
