Aston Villa have been credited with an interest in Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries.

Last month, we covered claims from Italy that the right-back could favour joining Aston Villa as they have qualified for the Champions League.

Tuttosport, relayed by InterLive.it, bring the latest on Aston Villa interest and the Serie A side’s plan for the 28-year-old.

The Netherlands international’s deal lasts until 2025, and Monchi is leading the Villans’ efforts to try to sign him in the summer window.

Aston Villa would prefer to wait and see the developments that could take place around his situation at the San Siro, to find out whether they can sign him at ‘reduced cost’ or on a free transfer next year.

It’s claimed the Premier League side’s director, Monchi, is ‘acting as a bridge’ with the fullback’s entourage.

Dumfries earns €3.7m per year and the Nerazzurri value him at €30m. The report states the deal proposed by Inter is close to what Aston Villa recently offered, which is around €5m per year. Taking this into account, it’s possible for him to continue at the San Siro.

Inter could decide to retain the Dutchman, even without a renewal. Simone Inzaghi values him, and it would be difficult [mostly financially] for them to find a replacement for him.

Aston Villa are keeping an eye on Dumfries’ situation, and if there’s no renewal, they could tempt Inter Milan with a low-ball offer in the latter stages of the summer window.
