Just yesterday, we covered the latest claims from Portugal regarding Fulham’s chase for Benfica midfielder Florentino Luís.

It was claimed by O Jogo that the Whites’ last bid was €2m for a loan deal, plus an obligatory clause to buy him at the end of the spell for €30m.

But Benfica turned it down, as they believe the player is worth at least €40m. Now an update from the Portuguese media claims that Monaco matched Fulham’s bid for the 21-year-old.

It’s Desporto Ao Minuto who reports it today, reporting the bid was very similar, and since Fulham’s offer was turned down, Benfica will do the same now.

With these two bids, it now makes sense that the Eagles are being tough in negotiations for Florentino. The player has been taking part in the club’s pre-season, and will be used by manager Jorge Jesus if don’t receive a good offer.

So for Fulham to really land him, the club will have to open their pockets and beat the French competition.
