It was explained that Monaco are now a much better side, with better players, a stronger belief, and renewed determination. Whilst PSG remain strong favourites to win the Ligue 1 title, it’s Monaco who are currently top.

At Wembley on Wednesday night, they shocked Spurs by going 2-0 ahead, and whilst Mauricio Pochettino’s men got one back, it wasn’t enough with Monaco superior on the night.

The club’s manager Leonardo Jardim has been speaking to L’Equipe and explained they used tips picked up when beating Arsenal 1-3 in 2015: “Mentally, we redesigned our victory at Arsenal two years ago (3-1), in a similar context, a large stadium, a noisy public. This gave us confidence.”

L’Equipe headline the article “We thought about Arsenal”, and French football has got the better of English clubs this week.
