Brighton and Hove Albion youngster Yasin Ayari has admitted his big moment against Liverpool was one of the “moments you life for” as a player.
Fotboll Skanalen comments from the Brighton midfielder today as he continues to earn rave reviews for his performances this season.
The 21-year-old has earned himself a part of Brighton’s plans for this season after impressing Fabian Hürzeler and his team in pre-season.
He’s been a regular in the team this season, playing in 50% of the available minutes in the Premier League so far and featuring in the starting eleven 45% of the time as well.
It’s been a rapid rise for him but he’s rewarded the faith shown in him, with impressive performances against the biggest sides in the league.
Indeed, his last two game saw him playing 76 minutes in the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool and then 45 minutes in the 2-1 win over Manchester City.
That clash against Liverpool was one in which he particularly impressed, earning rave reviews from fans and pundits alike despite the defeat.
Ayari is aware of that praise he’s been receiving and admits the performance, and the reaction, are the moments you live for as a player.
“It was great fun. We pretty much dominated the first half. It’s moments like this you live for, you train your whole life for it, to be able to play against a team like that, and also away from home,” he said.
“It gives extra motivation. Away against Liverpool, which is one of the best teams in the world. But I know what I possess. It was just fun to show what I can do. It was good for my confidence. I always want to play such matches.
“It feels good. I fight every day to play as much as possible. It’s tough competition. The Premier League is the best league in the world.”
