Moise Kean to Everton is the story of the day and may end up being one of the best transfer deals of the summer.
Everton have been hunting for a replacement for Romelu Lukaku for the best part of two years and capturing the 19-year-old represents that.
For much of the window, it appeared they would not get their man. Juventus were holding out for a buyback clause, and the Toffees weren’t keen on such an arrangement.
Some reports have suggested that the buyback clause still exists in the agreement, but Tuttomercatoweb insist that isn’t the case.
Juventus’ demands for a buyback clause had caused an ‘impasse’ in the negotiations with Everton refusing to accept it.
The whole deal was unlocked, though, by Everton instead offering the first refusal to Juve so that they could match any ‘acceptable’ bid for Kean in future.
That allows Everton to have full control over Kean but also gives Juve an option in future as well, thus satisfying all parties.
They say that Kean will officially start at his new club tomorrow, suggesting a deal is ready to be wrapped up as soon as possible.
