We’ve seen plenty of Omar Marmoush to Liverpool talk over the past few months, particularly with Mohamed Salah yet to sign a new contract at Anfield.
The Eintracht Frankfurt star has been positioned as the replacement for his Egypt teammate, with numerous reports from Germany explaining that Marmoush is even dreaming of a move to Liverpool.
Well, it seems Mohamed Salah wants his opinion on the matter to be known, and BILD explain today that will have gone down well with Marmoush.
They cover comments from the Liverpool star made at an appearance in a book fair in the United Arab Emirates, in which he was ‘meaningful’ about Marmoush.
“Omar Marmoush is a very good player and an important part of the ranks of his German team and the Egyptian national team. He shows outstanding performance for both teams and has great potential,” he said.
“Stay away from comparing us and saying that Omar is the new Salah and will achieve what I achieved. That doesn’t do him any good and puts him under constant pressure.
“Without these comparisons, his life is easier. And it will bring him more joy in the things he achieves in his career. There is no point in comparing a player who is at the beginning of his career with another who has been there for a long time and has achieved a lot.”
BILD say this will ‘mean a lot’ to Marmoush, who looks up to Salah and wants to follow in his footsteps.
It is presumably that which is pushing him towards Liverpool, with it reported earlier this month that he wants the transfer to Anfield. That was followed yesterday by a claim that he will ‘probably move to Liverpool’ at some point.
Perhaps this is something Salah is aware of and now wants to dampen expectations, even while backing his international teammate. Either way, BILD insist his efforts won’t go unnoticed, and we’re sure that will give Liverpool’s transfer effort a boost as well.
