Thilo Kehrer has established himself at West Ham United since arriving at the club from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.
The defender has made 10 appearances in all competitions, which includes six league starts.
David Moyes has used him in the heart of defence but deployed him as a right-back in West Ham’s 2-0 win over Wolves. It was their second league victory of this campaign.
After the tie, Sky Deutschland sat down to have a chat with the 26-year-old, where he was asked to detail the deciding factor that convinced him to join the Hammers.
Responding to that, Kehrer said: “It was a mixture of the quality of the league and a lot of games at Champions League level. I’m also in a team that has very high quality and many of the players have a lot of experience and quality despite their young age.”
On his time in the English capital so far, he explained: “So far I think there have been two or three days when I’ve been able to see the city a little with my family. Otherwise, there are simply too many games at the moment.”
The Germany international is of the belief it will take some time for West Ham to leave a mark on Europe.
“If you look at where the club comes from, what good steps have been made in recent years and they are now scratching the top six or seven places in the Premier League – that is clearly recognised here in England,” Moyes’ man stressed.
“Internationally, it takes a little longer, that’s normal. Opinion about West Ham here in England is very high, I’ve realised that in the past few weeks.”
West Ham need to start picking up points regularly to keep their hope of qualifying for the European competition alive next season. They are currently 15th in the table after eight games.
