Following thrashings of all teams in their group so far, Napoli are the favourites on Wednesday as they prepared to face Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Rangers FC for the second time.

The first game, which was played at Ibrox Stadium, finished 3-0 in favour of Luciano Spalletti’s side, and with this one played in Naples, there’s a fear the scoreline could be even bigger.

Of course, that entirely depends on how both teams fare on the day, as Van Bronckhorst’s side could surprise many with a sneak win.

Either way, Spalletti is adamant he will be prepared for whatever Rangers throw at him on Wednesday, insisting as much in his pre-match press conference.

He said, relayed by Calciomercato.it: “I watched the last few games. I found things done well, Van Bronkchorst is a quality manager. If we look at the match against Liverpool, they were 1-1 and they had other clear situations to score goals.

“Thinking that we will face an easily manageable team is a mistake we will not make. We will go to give our best in this game, otherwise it would mean not having the DNA of a winner.”

Spalletti also made it clear that he would not be rotating his squad that much, and explained he always chooses ‘the players to win games’.

Therefore, despite a hard-fought win against AS Roma at the weekend, Rangers can expect to face a near full force Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

The Serie A side currently sit top of their table with 29 points from their first 11 games, while Rangers are second in the Scottish Premiership, four points behind Celtic.
