If you’ve been following Everton’s transfer rumours over the last week or so, you’ll know Dele Alli is close to joining Besiktas.
The midfielder is seemingly not part of Frank Lampard’s plans this season, with Everton preferring to ship him out before he plays 20 games, and they have to pay Tottenham a fee.
Besiktas are keen on his signature and a move has been progressing steadily since then, albeit never reaching that final, decisive stage.
That’s despite there being confidence of the deal in Turkey, where they have been waiting to send a private jet over for most of the last week.
Lampard himself has also provided a positive update, commenting last night that the deal was advanced but not completed as yet.
Well, according to reports in Turkey today, there are two separate reasons for that being the case.
First there is FotoMaç, who say the ‘only snag’ is currently between Everton and Besiktas. The two clubs have reached a broad agreement for a loan deal with a purchase clause included.
Reports have made it clear that clause is set at €8m for next summer but the newspaper say there are some ‘minor complications’ around that fee.
According to their information, Everton want the player’s fee to be set at €6m if Besiktas sign Dele in January 2023 and €8m if it is postponed until the summer. Besiktas, though, want the figure to be €6m in both windows.
Fanatik, meanwhile, say the ‘dispute’ is between Everton and Tottenham over the deal that took Dele to Goodison Park in January.
That was a performances-based agreement that would see Everton pay once the midfielder had made 20 appearances but that is yet to happen.
If he heads to Besiktas it is unlikely it will either, meaning the Blues would not have to pay, something it seems Tottenham are not happy about. Besiktas, then, are waiting for the two clubs to agree.
Either way, Everton appear to have some final negotiating to do, either with Besiktas or Tottenham, before Dele can be shipped out.
