Earlier on Monday, we covered news in Holland that Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek had decided to change agents ahead of the January window.
Leaving his long-term representative Guido Albers in favour of Ali Dursun, who represents Frenkie de Jong, the move is seen as an attempt to get himself a new club in the coming months.
It’s no secret the Manchester United midfielder is unhappy with his situation at Old Trafford, barely featuring under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who appears to be on the verge of being sacked after the 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool.
Journalist Mike Verweij reacted to the news on the De Telegraaf podcast Kick-Off, where he announced his surprise, but perhaps understood why the Dutchman went for Dursun.
He said, relayed by Voetbalzone: “Ali forced the biggest transfer ever for a Dutch player, when took Frenkie to Barcelona for €86m. So I think Donny now also hopes that he gets a very nice new club”.
The move could end up being a ‘wry’ one, according to Verweij, especially if the Manchester United player gets what he wants.
The journalist also then revealed that ‘Mino Raiola also made an attempt to add van de Beek to his clientele’, clearly seeing an opening to make some money and help the wantaway midfielder.
