On Thursday, Sky Sports News reported that Leicester City are set to appoint Eduardo Macia as the club’s head of recruitment.
Macia used to play for Valencia, and as well as working for the Spanish club he’s also held roles with Liverpool, Real Betis, Olympiacos and Fiorentina.
The Florence role started out with Macia as a scout and ended with him as sporting director, and it was felt in Italy there was a good chance he’d be moving to another Serie A club after his Betis exit.
AC Milan have been linked and Calciomercato seem to react with surprise to the Leicester news, and headline a piece ‘Macia to Leicester – Milan nothing’.
It was a only a few days ago that Gazzetta dello Sport reported Macia could be Milan’s new sporting director, but that track now appears dead. There’s instability at AC Milan brought on by Chinese investment, and there’s still doubt over the future of well known CEO Adriano Galliani.
Under those circumstances it would be no surprise if Leicester have beaten Milan to the punch.
