Bristol City forward Gustav Engvall has confirmed to the Swedish media that Panathinaikos are showing an interest in him.
The Swede spent last season on loan with Djurgårdens, after failing to hold a place down in Lee Johnston’s Bristol City starting eleven.
Speaking to Sportbladet, Engvall was asked about the possibility of signing for the Greek side: “It has come up quite quickly and I will discuss this further with my agent (Per Jonsson). It might be a good step, but at the same time I’m not so keen to move back out on loan.
“My agent and I are going through the possibilities I have. There are interested clubs, but it is important that it’s right. We have a good dialogue with Bristol.”
In recent weeks there’s been speculation surrounding Engvall’s future at Bristol City, after claims in Sweden Plymouth were taking an interest in him.
It was reported talks have yet to commence between Plymouth and Bristol City, but the Division 1 side could give him the opportunity of more playing time.
The 21 year old signed for Bristol City in 2016, but has only played a handful of games for the Championship side.
