Chelsea should soon be completing the signing of Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria, according to reports from Italy.

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio writes that in the last hours of the transfer market, the Blues submitted an offer to sign the 25-year-old. Now there’s an ‘imminent’ agreement for the transfer, and the player is set to have a medical in Italy.

The reporter had previously claimed that the bid made by Chelsea was on the basis of a loan with a right of redemption. For now, it’s not clear how much the Stamford Bridge would potentially pay in case of the purchase.

Di Marzio says that the Blues aren’t the only club who were interested in Zakaria at the end of the transfer window. Liverpool also ‘asked’ about the player last night, but the Reds ended up going for another player from the Old Lady, as they’re signing Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo.

Covering the claims, outlet Calcio Mercato also came up to say that Juventus would rather see Zakaria go on a loan with an obligatory buying option. So it’s not clear if that’s the basis of any clause.
