There was a time of the year when the Italian media weren’t very confident that Marcelo Brozovic would sign a new contract with Inter Milan, and with his deal expiring at the end of the season, his departure was seen as very likely.
Now the situation seems to have turned around, because according to the latest piece from Calcio Mercato, the midfielder is edging closer to a new deal, despite the interest from Newcastle United.
It’s said that Inter Milan are now ready to make a ‘sacrifice’ for the 29-year-old and reach the salary of €7m per season he’s been asking for.
The Nerazzurri are said to be Brozovic’s priority, with the talks now going on ‘for some time’, and at this stage, Newcastle are not a threat to the renewal.
Calcio Mercato claims that the Magpies are ‘ready to get to the requests’ that Brozovic has been making, but that should still not be enough to attract him to St. James’ Park. It’s said the midfielder ‘does not like the destination’ as he’s ‘not sportingly teased’ by the Premier League.
Now his rejection to Newcastle only leaves an easier path for Inter Milan to renew his contract.
