Newcastle United midfielder Siem de Jong will soon make a decision on his future following reports he is close to joining PSV this summer. The Dutchman doesn’t seem to be in the long term plans of Rafa Benitez, and could head back to his home country before the transfer deadline.

De Telegraaf have revealed this morning that De Jong is on the verge of joining the Dutch champions on loan for the season, and now it’s down to the player if he wants to sign for the club.

PSV have been in talks with Newcastle United with regards to signing De Jong as they look to bring in a midfielder in this transfer window. PSV have been linked with a number of midfielders in the past week, and despite De Jong being sidelined with injury it now seems he will be the one to come in.

Only last week we covered reports from Holland that PSV were keen on De Jong after Chelsea star Marco van Ginkel turned down the chance to return to the club. De Jong’s agent confirmed PSV were showing an interest in his client, but at the time they hadn’t entered into talks with PSV.

However, in recent days his move to PSV has gathered momentum, and it looks now like he’ll join his brother Luuk at the Dutch side.
