Bordeaux midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni has admitted it is a ‘pleasure’ to be likened to Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.
Tchouaméni is enjoying a breakout campaign with the French side, starting ten of their 14 games so far.
It’s been a rapid rise for the 19-year-old, who only managed ten appearances in the whole of last season but has earned the faith of manager Paulo Sousa.
Despite not scoring or registering an assist yet this season, his displays have naturally garnered plenty of attention, primarily due to his young age.
Among those reviews have been comparisons to Manchester United and France midfielder Paul Pogba, with plenty ready to jump the gun and label Bordeaux’s rising starlet the next Pogba.
While most young players would be keen to shy away and reject such suggestions, Tchouaméni is the opposite.
Instead, he says it’s nothing but a pleasure to be likened to the World Cup-winning midfielder at this stage of his career.
“It’s always a pleasure to be compared to Paul Pogba… and he plays for a club thatI like,” he told RMC Sport.
“He’s having a very good career; I hope I can do mine and we’ll do the accounting at the end.
“I think I have not finished my history with Bordeaux; I have a contract until 2022. I’m good in Bordeaux.”
