Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel has ruled out a move back to PSV when the transfer window re-opens in the New Year. The youngster was linked with a loan move to the Dutch champions in the summer following his six-month spell with the club last season.

Speaking to Voetbal International, Van Ginkel was asked about the possibility of returning to PSV for the second half of the season.

The Chelsea star said he’s no idea if PSV are interested in signing him, and pointed out there is a lot of competition for places in their midfield. Van Ginkel went on to say at the moment he’s just looking to regain his fitness after missing the first part of the season with injury.

“I have no idea. PSV have quite a lot of midfielders at the moment. Personally, I’m still working on next winter. I first want to be fully fit again,” said the Chelsea player.

Van Ginkel was the first choice for PSV during the last transfer window, but they were unable to get a deal done. The Dutch side instead brought in Newcastle United midfielder Siem de Jong on a season long loan deal. However, with Van Ginkel’s chances likely to be limited at Chelsea he may need to go out on loan again to get playing time.
