Fenerbahce midfielder Josef de Souza has made an announcement on social media after reports he could be heading to the Premier League this summer.

Earlier this week we covered reports that the player was being linked with a move to Watford after claims the English side have made a €9m for him.

Souza has issued a statement on his Instagram account to play down rumours he’s on his way to England: “I can confirm that me and my agent Carlos Leite have never met with a Premier League club.

“This news is not true. I still has a contract with Fenerbahce for another year and I believe we can finally win the title next season.”

In recent weeks Souza has been linked with a move to Watford and this week it was claimed the Premier League side had made a move on the Brazilian.

Watford said to be set for talks with Fenerbahce, but the Turkish club were looking for offers in the region of €12m.

Souza has also been linked with West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer after reports they too are considering making bids for the central midfielder.

Someone is pushing the rumours in Turkey, and if it isn’t Souza and his agent then the finger of suspicion would move to his club.
