According to Manu Lonjon, Fulham’s attempts to sign Josuha Guilavogui from Wolfsburg are heading in the right direction.

Taking to Twitter to reveal the information, the reliable Yahoo! Sport journalist explained the defensive midfielder liked the project Fulham had to offer.

Furthermore, Lonjon stated the Cottagers and Wolfsburg had now opened talks for the 27-year-old.

This came after German website Sportbuzzer claimed Fulham were interested in signing the defensive midfielder, having made a salary proposal, which is yet to be agreed with the player.

The newly promoted Premier League club were said to be ‘keen’ on the France international, which was confirmed by the Bundesliga outfit’s sporting director, Jörg Schmadtke.

Bruno Labbadia’s side are in the market to allow a few of their players leave the Volkswagen Arena as they look to reduce the squad, but they want to retain the former Atletico Madrid man.

Guilavogui had a release clause close to €20m in his contract and could have left the club for that price this summer.

However, the deadline to sign him for that price has already passed, meaning the Cottagers need to agree a fee first if they want to bring the midfielder to Craven Cottage.

“Thanks to a clause in the contract (almost 20 million euros), Guilavogui could have left VfL this summer, but the deadline for this clause has passed,” Schmadtke said.
