If you’ve been following our coverage of Nikola Vlasic’s time in Russia, you’ll be fully aware he isn’t all that keen on returning to Goodison Park anytime soon.

Enjoying himself at CSKA Moscow, where he’s just been voted their player of the month for the third time this season already, the attacking midfielder is impressing everyone with his performances, including his teammates.

Despite missing a penalty at the weekend, the 21-year-old retained the trust of Arnor Sigurdsson, who was quoted by CSKA News as heaping praise on the Everton loanee, hinting he’d quite like him to stay beyond the current campaign.

The midfielder said: “Vlasic is a fantastic football player, he makes the difference. It’s lucky that he’s with us, even if it’s just a loan. His contract with Everton shows that he’s rated in the Premier League, but maybe he’ll remain at CSKA for good if the negotiations go well.”

As things stand, there is no clause in the loan deal that saw him leave Everton for Russia, so any negotiations between the two sides would have to start anew, meaning the Toffees are free to ask whatever they want for him.

If Vlasic continues to perform as he has done, it wouldn’t be surprising if other clubs came knocking too, which could perfectly play in Marco Silva and co.’s hands in order to start a bidding war.

Then again, if the Croatian only wants to play for CSKA next season… it may be more difficult.
