Marcos Rojo moved from Sporting CP to Manchester United in 2014, spending around seven years with the Premier League club before calling an end to his time at Old Trafford.
He initially went on loan from Manchester United to Estudiantes, before signing for Boca Juniors in a 2021 permanent transfer. The 34-year-old has been with the Argentine club since, winning the league, cup and super cup with Boca Juniors so far.
Now Rojo is set to welcome a midfielder he played with during his Manchester United career, and it’s none other than Ander Herrera.
Herrera signed for Manchester United in 2014, and saw out his five year contract before leaving as a free agent for PSG in 2019. By 2022 he was back with Athletic Club Bilbao and that association is set to come to an end.
Argentina’s TyC Sports report the 35-year-old is on the verge of joining Boca Juniors and will travel in the next few hours to have a medical with the club.
According to TyC Sports, the transfer ‘is now a fact’, and it’s described as a bombshell move.
Not only is Rojo at Boca Juniors, but also Edinson Cavani, who joined in 2023, and Sergio Romero, who has been there since 2022.
