Wolfsburg midfielder Anton Donkor has told the German media Aston Villa are interested in signing him. In the past few days it’s been claimed the youngster could be heading to Aston Villa on loan.
Speaking to sportbuzzer.de, Donkor was asked about the proposed move to Aston Villa in this transfer window. The 19-year-old confirmed his agent has been in talks with Aston Villa with regards to a move. Donkor also believes the move would benefit his progress as a player.
“Yes, my agent has had contact with Aston Villa. In order to further develop myself, a loan to England would surely be a good thing,” said the Wolfsburg player.
Aston Villa have been tracking Donkor ever since he impressed against Leicester City in the UEFA youth Champions League. The German U20 international has been told by his club he won’t be involved in the first team this season, despite recently participating in their winter training camp.
Aston Villa will be looking to get the deal done in the coming days and with Wolfsburg allowing the player to leave a deal looks very possible indeed for Steve Bruce.
