Tottenham are ‘monitoring’ Roma midfielder Jordan Veretout, who is ‘attracted’ by the possibility of working under Antonio Conte.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who say the midfielder is ‘in crisis’ with Jose Mourinho so could be moved on by the Italian side.
They explain that the Frenchman has been ‘negatively affected’ by the treatment he’s received from Mourinho and is ‘going through an obvious setback’ after scoring ten goals last season.
He had been in the process of signing a renewal at the club, but that has been put on hold, and a departure is now a ‘concrete possibility’ as Mourinho would like to add a midfielder to his squad but needs funds to do so.
Selling Veretout would allow him to raise the money necessary, and Tottenham manager Conte is ‘monitoring’ the player.
He was already interested in him when he was at Inter, and that’s not gone away, although Roma’s asking price of €25-30m makes things ‘difficult’ in January.
However, Tottenham ‘could make it easier’ for Roma to sign Tanguy Ndombele if they were to sign Veretout for a deal in June.
For now, it appears he is just a player that Spurs and Conte are looking at, but it seems to be more for the summer than in the coming days.
Then again, anything can happen in the transfer window, and crazier deals have taken place in the past.
