Middlesbrough yesterday sent a scout to the U19s games between PFC Septemvri Sofia and PFC CSKA Sofia.

Scouting Team have confirmed Martin Carter, Head of Academy Recruitment at Middlesbrough, travelled to Bulgaria this weekend, along with a member from the scouting agency.

The objective was to get a lowdown on the youngsters being developed in the country, although there have been no reports who Middlesbrough were monitoring. Its likely Carter was on a general scouting mission to see if there were any potential youngsters that could be brought over to England.

With Middlesbrough’s relegation to the Championship, the club will already looking to bounce back to the Premier League and once again redouble their future efforts. Some of the club’s high profile players are expected to leave in the summer, and subsequently new recruits will need to brought in.

It’ unlikely any of the players on show in Bulgaria yesterday will be ready yet for English football, but they will be seen as possibilities for the future.
