Earlier on Thursday we covered claims from Germany’s Bild that Middlesbrough remained the ‘hottest track’ for Neven Subotic.
There was no claim of any fresh talks between Middlesbrough and Borussia Dortmund, and it all seems largely based on the failed summer transfer. Bild did state that Dortmund would prefer a move closer toward the end of the transfer window, given the defender is taking part in the club’s mini pre-season in Spain.
Germany’s Kicker have a slightly different take and say it’s Subotic fighting to prove he’s fit and ready for a transfer, that would be the hold up and not Dortmund.
English interest is mentioned, although not Middlesbrough by name, and Hamburg are also said to be interested. The big doubt for all clubs is whether Subotic is now free of his long term injury problems, or whether another fitness problem is on the way.
Whilst Subotic has been training he’s still not back in full contention with the squad and therefore clubs would wait and see how his fitness progresses throughout January.
