Middlesbrough are in talks with Valencia over the possibility of signing Alvaro Negredo.
However, reports in Spain claim the newly promoted Premier League side could also be interested in another Valencia player.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Middlesbrough have also asked Valencia about the possibility of signing Antonio Barragan.
Marca believe the Spanish right back doesn’t feature in Pako Ayestaran’s plans for next season, and could be allowed to leave and join the Premier League newcomers.
The 29-year-old made 15 league appearances last season, and could find it easy to settle in England given his past experiences.
Barragan has already spent a season in the Premier League at Liverpool, when he was just 18, but was sold to Deportivo after making just one substitute appearance for the Reds.
As Valencia look to raise some money to settle financial concerns, Middlesbrough and Aitor Karanka could provide a refuge for two players.
