Long thought to be returning to Las Palmas on loan after a disappointing first half of the season at Paris Saint-Germain, former Real Madrid forward Jesé remains in the French capital for now.
That, however, could change quickly if Middlesbrough get their way, according to Canarias7 in Spain.
The local news website claims Aitor Karanka is keen on bringing the winger/striker to the Riverside Stadium, and would be able to meet the French club’s demands.
Since the first link back to Las Palmas, what has held up their prodigal son’s return has been the financial side of things, especially the salary, which totals to €2.8m paid to the player before June.
Middlesbrough are more than capable of relieving Paris Saint-Germain’s wage contribution until the end of the season, something Las Palmas cannot do.
However, Canarias7 report one thing is standing in the way of Jesé giving the Premier League a go, and that is the language barrier.
Already struggling with French, which has hindered his time with the Ligue 1 champions, the difficulties he would encounter in England are slowing the whole thing down.
Even with the likes of Daniel Ayala, Alvaro Negredo, Victor Valdes, Adama Traoré and Antonio Barragan already at the club, communicating with the rest of the team would be a struggle, and this is putting Jesé off a bit.
That said, there is a while left in the transfer window, and if the Las Palmas option doesn’t work out for the 23-year-old, a move to Spain-heavy Middlesbrough wouldn’t be a bad alternative.
