Unless Middlesbrough are prepared to take a big gamble on fitness, which they’re almost certainly not, then any ideas the club have of signing Neven Subotic are dead, at least for January.
Last week we covered claims from Germany that a move to England was the ‘hottest track’ for a Subotic January exit from Borussia Dortmund. The defender had almost joined Middlesbrough during the summer transfer window, but that move collapsed when it was found Subotic needed an operation.
Then it was reported that Subotic was fighting to get himself fit for a January transfer, but now Bild say that plan has taken a blow. Headlining their article ‘Not Fit’, Bild say Hamburg have pulled away from an idea to sign Subotic because he’s simply not fit enough for the second half of the season.
It’s stated Subotic isn’t even back in full team training, still having to do workouts on his own. That should pretty much kill this one for Middlesbrough.
