Middlesbrough could agree a deal to sign Jese Rodriguez ‘in the coming hours’. French newspaper L’Equipe report that PSG are increasingly determined Jese doesn’t go to Las Palmas but instead joins Middlesbrough on loan.

Jese is from Las Palmas so that option has been preferential for the player, and L’Equipe say Jese has even eased off in training, to show his disappointment at not being allowed to pick the move he wants.

For PSG, and by extension for Jese, Middlesbrough seems to be the last club in town. L’Equipe say the player’s agent was negotiating with Middlesbrough on Wednesday.

It’s probably worth not ruling out Middlesbrough being asked for a payment, to make Jese feel more positive about the situation.

The Spanish club could only contribute 20% of Jese wages, which Las Palmas say is due to FFP, and there’s been worry that Jese would find many familiar faces there which could see him enjoying himself too much off the pitch.

Jese hasn’t been keen on moving to a country he doesn’t know, which hasn’t helped Middlesbrough, but it sounds like PSG are determined the player joins up with Aitor Karanka.
