Brazilian journalist Fabio Sormani shared a claim on Brazil’s Fox Sports today that São Paulo are interested in signing Victor Valdés from Middlesbrough.
The Brazilian side are unhappy with their goalkeepers this season and would try to sign the Spaniard, who has a contract with Boro until 2018.
São Paulo are under a lot of pressure is because their current manager is club legend Rogério Ceni, who played for them for 22 years and scored over 100 goals. A lot is expected of the club and Ceni wants the best he can get.
Sormani explained that Rogério Ceni likes Valdés very much and is the one who indicated the name to the board. The fact that the manager has an English coach in his staff would also help.
But the journalist made clear that although he’s received this information, he still wasn’t able to check it with other sources. Since the story was launched in Brazil, Sport Witness have managed to speak with sources close to the process and been informed the claims are baseless.
