According to a claim in the Greek media, Middlesbrough are very close to completing the signing of PAOK striker Chuba Akpom.
The 24 year old, who has also been linked with Super Lig sides Besiktas and Fenerbahce in recent weeks, is now expected to join Middlesbrough in the next few days, say Sdna.
It’s reported the Championship club will pay €3m to PAOK for the attacker, and that the Greek club accepted this offer before yesterday’s game against Benfica.
Sdna adds the Greek side have respected Akpom’s desire to return to England after he joined them from Arsenal in 2018.
The English striker will now leave PAOK, and they are already in the market for his replacement as they look ahead to their tie with Krasnodar in the Champions League playoffs.
Akpom made 43 appearances for Greek side in all competitions last season, scoring 10 goals. His contract with the club was set to expire at the end of June 2021.
