On Monday, Alfredo Morelos was announced as a Rangers signing, part of Pedro Caixinha’s Ibrox revolution. The Colombian joined the club on a three-year deal, arriving from HJK Helsinki.

The 21-year-old is Caixinha’s sixth signing for Rangers, and according to the latest rumours, there’s still more to come.

But the Mexican press didn’t really take Morelos’ transfer the same way. They actually think the Colombian is taking the place of Eduardo Herrera, who’s close to joining the club but is having problems getting work permit.

When reporting the signing of Morelo, website Futbol Total treats him as ‘Herrera’s substitute’, and says that the move puts the other deal ‘in question’.

The Scottish press isn’t saying the same thing, as still this morning it was claimed that Herrera has been registered with UEFA in order to play in the Europa League qualifiers.

So it really looks like Futbol Total are jumping the gun here, assuming that a signing will be called off just because of a paperwork delay. If the latest updates from Scotland are true, Rangers should have Herrera available soon.
