Michael Olise spent three years at Crystal Palace before leaving them for Bayern Munich in the summer window.

The winger struggled with injuries last season but still managed 10 goals and six assists from 19 league games for Crystal Palace. His performances for the Eagles attracted interest from a few top clubs and Bayern Munich won the battle in the end.

Olise has been able to replicate his Crystal Palace form at the Bundesliga side and has nine goals and nine assists from 23 games in all competitions this season.

The former Crystal Palace star has been speaking to the club’s magazine, Säbener 51, and a Bayern fan account, iMiaSanMia, have relayed his quotes on X, formerly known as Twitter.

When asked what he knew about the German giants before joining them, he said: “That it’s a club with big tradition, a lot of success and big goals. It was an incredible moment for me when I heard Bayern were seriously interested in me. And now I’ve been here for a few months and I’m experiencing the spirit of the club even more.”

According to the 23-year-old, there is a big difference in mentality between the Bavarian club and Crystal Palace. He claims the Premier League side were mostly underdogs, which isn’t the case with Vincent Kompany’s side.

“This mentality to always want to win is really amazing, and also the biggest difference to my former club Crystal Palace. We were often in the role of the underdog there – that’s never the case at Bayern,” Olise explained.

“The pressure here is high because we want and have to win every game. But I like that, and I think that pressure makes me even better as a player.”

The ex-Crystal Palace man’s experience of playing in the Premier League has helped him adapt to Kompany’s methods at Bayern.

“I’m used to high intensity from the Premier League. At first the specific style of Vincent Kompany was definitely a change. It’s very challenging, I like that. You always have to be ready to attack, you can’t drop off even for a moment. This way of putting the opponent under pressure suits me well,” he added.
