Celta Vigo sporting director Marcos Garcés has explained how Jorge Mendes was involved in Jørgen Strand Larsen’s transfer to Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.
On Thursday, Celta president Marián Mouriño, CEO José Gainzarain and Garcés attended a press conference. Their comments are relayed by Faro de Vigo.
The La Liga side allowed Larsen to join Wolves on a loan deal with an obligation to buy. The overall cost of the deal, including the loan fee, is €30m.
It’s to be noted the super-agent doesn’t manage the 24-year-old. Transfermarkt say he’s represented by agent TP Sport Management, run by agents Tore Pedersen and Patrick Ferreira.
“Yes, Mendes collaborated with us. The final offer for Larsen came through Gestifute,” he said.
It’s known Mendes has close ties with the Premier League side and represents some of their players.
Faro de Vigo aren’t clear about the commission the Portuguese agent will receive for transferring Larsen to Molineux.
The Norwegian has managed a goal and two assists from five matches for Wolves this season.
