For the past few weeks, Liverpool have been repeatedly linked with a move for Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara.
The claims have come from both the English and German media, and as it stands it would appear there’s disagreement between the Reds and Bayern on the transfer fee amount.
Given the delay, Thiago may not be the first player to swap the Bundesliga for Anfield this summer, with Bild reporting Jurgen Klopp is keen on a Schalke defender.
That man is Ozan Kabak, a 20 year old central defender. Bild make an effort to talk up the potential move, saying a ‘Mega transfer’ is ‘on the way’ for Schalke, and that the move is ‘looming’.
Liverpool have already put the feelers out for a summer swoop for Kabak, and the transfer would help Schalke, who are described as being ‘financially stricken’.
The German club are managed by David Warner, a close friend of Klopp, so the lines of communication will already be open.
Schalke want €35m, although there’s a chance they’ll be forced to drop that amount.
