Chelsea turned down an option to bring back Callum Hudson-Odoi in January, according to SportBild.
Last summer, Bayer Leverkusen signed the winger on a loan deal after injury setbacks to Karim Bellarabi and Amine Adli.
The Chelsea owned player has managed a goal [in 2-2 draw against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League] and an assist from 20 matches in all competitions for the German club.
Since the World Cup, he has been restricted to 120 minutes of action from five matches and has not featured for the Bundesliga side February 19th. It’s for this reason SportBild state he is as a ‘mega flop’ for Bayer Leverkusen.
Hudson-Odoi’s contract at Chelsea is until 2024. He will return to Stamford Bridge after this season, but the 22-year-old ‘has no future’ with the Blues. The report states Graham Potter’s side rejecting an option to cut short his loan stay in January says a lot.
It’ll be interesting to see where the wideman will play next season.
Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes is hopeful Hudson-Odoi could “ignite” in the last two months of this season.
“We have a lot of competition on offense, so everyone has to give their all to get their chance. We still have a lot of games and know Callum’s qualities,” SportBild quoted Rolfes as saying.
