Newcastle United star Siem de Jong is on the verge of signing for Eredivisie side PSV on loan.
Yesterday, Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf revealed the player is keen on returning to his homeland and could be set for a reunion with his brother Luuk at PSV.
According to De Telegraaf on Saturday, De Jong is expected in Eindhoven this weekend for a medical examination, and could join the club next week.
The 27-year-old has suffered a number of injuries during his stay at Newcastle, and has managed just 22 league games.
However, PSV’s sporting director Marcel Brands believes his injury problems have been exaggerated a bit, and that he is fit at the moment.
He said: “I think that’s a bit exaggerated. He has had a few injuries, but also a few where he couldn’t do anything, a collapsed lung and a finger in his eye. The science we have now is that he’s as good as fit.”
Siem de Jong should also be delighted by the opportunity to play in the Champions League this season with the Eredivisie club.
