Islam Slimani now looks on the verge of completing his move to Lyon from Leicester City.

Earlier on Monday, we covered a report from Le Progres, a newspaper close to the Ligue 1 club, which stated the move was ‘well advanced’ and Lyon were continuing to have talks with the striker.

That came a couple of days after Lyon director of football Juninho revealed talks had been held with the Algeria international, and stated Slimani wanted to make the move.

Le Progres explained that the Foxes man was being offered an 18-month contract, but was holding out for a longer deal. Compromise still needed to be reached on that, and Lyon also wanted to be sure the transfer of Moussa Dembélé to Atletico Madrid was happening.

The final hurdle was convincing Leicester City to let Slimani leave on a free transfer, given his contract expires at the end of the season.

Gianluca Di Marzio now reports the 32-year-old will have a ‘medical tomorrow’, which would heavily suggest all the loose ends have been tied up.
