Atalanta are planning medical tests for Southampton winger Kamaldeen Sulemana by the end of next week.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Italian side are closing in on the 23-year-old.
They explain that Sulemana is now ‘virtually an Atalanta player’ and is set to undergo medical tests by the end of next week.
Atalanta have pushed forward negotiations with Southampton throughout this week and are now set to pay €17m plus €4m in bonuses. Southampton will also retain 10% on a future sale.
The move will see Sulemana reunite with manager Ivan Juric, who worked with him at Southampton this season. He’s taken charge of Atalanta this summer and is keen to add the winger to his squad. He believes he is both quality and versatile.
It is his confidence in the player that has convinced Atalanta to push for him and get a deal over the line as quickly as possible. The completion of the deal is now in their sights, and a medical is set to take place by the end of next week at the latest to seal that.
