Chelsea defender Baba Rahman is heading out on loan to Schalke, after just a year with the London club.
Germany’s Kicker report that Baba will have a medical on Sunday, and should he pass the tests then he’s set to become a Schalke player for at least the next season.
Chelsea stand to receive a fee from the loan of €500k, but Kicker don’t explain who will be paying the player’s wages.
Just last week Baba was explaining he knew he had to work hard to stay at Chelsea, but in a matter of days he’s leaving.
The 22 year old impressed in Germany with Augsburg, with the club very sorry to see him leave last summer.
Antonio Conte obviously sees no role for Baba at Chelsea over the next season, and therefore a move makes sense for all involved. It may well start as a loan, but there’s every possibility Baba has played his last game for Chelsea.
