It was also reported the midfielder travelled to England on Sunday, to carry out the transfer formalities.
Tuesday’s edition of Record reports the 20-year-old has already cleared his medical tests with the Saints. This brings him a step closer towards to sealing a move to Southampton.
The player is now waiting for Russell Martin’s side to make the deal official. This should be done soon as the report says the transfer can be announced later today.
The Premier League side have agreed to pay €15m plus €5m in potential bonuses to the Lions. Record add the Portuguese club will be entitled to receive 10% of any profit from a future sale.

Fernandes is a product of Sporting’s academy, who he joined at the age of nine. He spent last season on loan at another Portuguese side, Estoril Praia, where he made 35 appearances in all competitions.
