Erik Lamela has been the subject of transfer rumours since not long after he arrived at Tottenham Hotspur.
It’s long been thought a return to Italian football has been on the cards, and ahead of every transfer window there’s been claims of interest from multiple Serie A clubs.
So it’s something of a surprise that now the time has finally come for Lamela to leave Tottenham and English football behind him, he’s moving to Spain rather than Italy.
A lot of that is down to Spurs moving to sign Bryan Gil from Sevilla, with Lamela being part of the deal for the young Spaniard, who is currently away at the Tokyo Olympics.
Mundo Deportivo say Lamela will have his medical today with Sevilla and then sign the paperwork to make the move official. At the same time, Spurs will be moving to complete the details for Gil, although that’s a little more complicated given the player is in Japan.
Bryan Gil is a 20-year-old left winger, who can also operate on the right or through the middle. He spent last season on loan at Eibar, and his La Liga stats for the campaign stood at four goals and three assists.
