With Antony not making it to Manchester United’s squad for the match against Aston Villa on Thursday evening, that was a reason for the Brazilian media to wonder about his physical situation, as the World Cup is just around the corner.
So UOL today writes a story about the player’s state, and even managed to speak to national team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar about the winger’s hip injury.
Antony was replaced at half time in the Europa League clash against Sheriff. Since then, he missed the Manchester United’s matches against West Ham United, Real Sociedad and Aston Villa.
UOL writes that due to the injury, Lasmar has been in touch with the Red Devils and Antony himself. It’s claimed that the player’s staff believe he could be in the squad for the match against Fulham at the weekend.
That’s something Lasmar seems to agree with, as he claims the 22-year-old is ‘evolving very well’ and should be fit when the national team meet on Monday.
“Our expectation is that he is already recovered and free to train in our presentation,” Rodrigo Lasmar told UOL.
Signed by Manchester United from Ajax this summer, Antony has three goals in 11 appearances for the Red Devils, His first months in the Premier League were certainly crucial for Tite to include him in the World Cup squad.
