Simone Zaza has another 5 appearances to make his West Ham move permanent, but will he be a given the chance to impress?
The Italian forward has failed to score in 9 appearances, and many feel the damage has already been done, and Zaza will be shipped back to Italy in January.
The London side must pay Juventus €20m should Zaza make 14 appearances for them, which doesn’t sound like a great deal, but Napoli are keen on the 25-year-old.
According to Calciomercato, Valencia are also keen on signing Zaza, as they haven’t replaced Paco Alcacer yet, who left for Barcelona.
Napoli remain interested, but the question is: Will Zaza want to return to Italy or try another club abroad?
At Napoli, Arkadiusz Milik is very likely to be their first choice striker once he returns from injury, as the Polish striker really started off well at the Serie A club.
Zaza could be offered a more prominent role at Valencia, and it remains to be seen if he’d opt for La Liga club. The Italian international would ideally want to sort out his future quickly and revive his career, after also rarely playing for Juventus last season.
He’s shown nothing to justify Slaven Bilic having faith, and likely wasn’t in West Ham’s first five choices for a striker last summer. Maybe not in the first ten. It’s all a bit of a mess.
Interestingly, the local Valencia media are linking their club with Jonathan Calleri, another summer West Ham signing which has so far been an abject failure. Valencia have made some terrible decisions in recent years, maybe West Ham can take advantage of the situation in January.
A double shipping off to Valencia and everyone forgets either player was ever signed? Doesn’t sound like a terrible idea.
Calleri is very talented, but his loan situation is complicated and he’s clearly not settled in yet, an exit may be best for the player. Zaza, on the other hand, has simply failed on the pitch and, unless things change dramatically and quickly, he’s not who West Ham need.
